Justin Bieber Reflects On 2014 DUI Arrest: 'God Has Brought Me A Long Way'

Justin Bieber is looking at how far he’s come since his teenage days.

The “Sorry” singer took to Instagram on Saturday (January 23) to reflect on a troubled moment from his past — his infamous DUI arrest in 2014, specifically — and how his religion steered him back on the right path.

“7 years ago today I was arrested, not my finest hour. Not proud of where I was at in my life. I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead, misunderstood and angry at god..” Bieber wrote with an unsightly photo showing him being hauled off by officers in handcuffs, quipping, “I also wore too much leather for someone in Miami.”

Beliebers will recall that the “As Long As You Love Me” star was arrested for drag racing on Miami Beach in Florida. After failing a sobriety test, the crooner was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Luckily, Bieber evaded jail time by taking a lesser charge of reckless driving.

“All this to say God has brought me a long way. From then til now I do realize something.. God was as close to me then as he is right now,” the 26-year-old continued. “My encouragement to you is to ‘let your past be a reminder of how far god has brought you. Don’t allow shame to ruin your ‘today’ let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be. LOVE YOU GUYS WITH MY WHOLE HEART.”

As fans know, Bieber has come a long way since then, having gotten closer to God over the years. Not to mention, wife Hailey Baldwin has made him a married man not once, but twice.
