If you think you saw comedian Jay Leno driving through the Quad-Cities in a classy new Lexus … you probably did. And the car was a loaner from a local dealership.
When Todd Hopkins, general manager at Lexus of Quad-Cities, Davenport, learned that longtime car aficionado Leno would be in town for a show at the Adler Theatre, he reached out to the Adler to connect with Leno’s representatives.
Hopkins offered to lend Leno a new 2018 Lexus LC500 while he was visiting.
At first, it didn’t look like it would work out, but he ended up taking advantage of it,” said Hopkins, who received a call from Leno himself Saturday afternoon. “I just wanted to call and say thanks for the use of the car,” Leno told him.
Leno was impressed with the car. “He mentioned how the LC drove like a typical luxury car until you jumped on it, and then it really performed like a sports car.” Leno also told Hopkins he likes the new “L-finesse styling of the Lexus.” He told Hopkins he drove a Lexus LFA at Fuji Speedway in Japan a couple of years ago.
“I am glad he had an opportunity to experience the car and experience Quad-City hospitality,” Hopkins said.
