Rolling Stones Pre-Show Rituals Revealed

The Rolling Stones are booked up the next couple months on their “No Filter Tour” and the guys have recently shared what they do to prepare for the shows. Besides rehearsals, Mick Jagger and the gang enjoy going their own unique pre-show rituals.

As for Charlie Watts, he enjoys some quality time with Keith Richards.“I usually play Duke Ellington, and then I go into Keith, who plays Little Richard, usually,” he explains. Mick? He loves to relax and do a little dance warm up.

“Backstage before the show, I like to relax and chill out,” Jagger says. “Just before the show, I get all like, ‘Ahh!’ So, sometimes I like to get everybody out of the room for a minute and just calm down and do my singing. I have Bob Marley things that I kind of sometimes do and move around to. And then I do a dance warm-up. I do a couple of, like, current tunes for a dance warm-up.” Mick recently shared an example of that dance warm-up in a tweet that shows him getting hyped to Joey Purp’s“Girls @.” You can check that out below.

The Stones are taking a different approach to this leg of the “No Filter” tour. They kicked off their London shows last week, which featured a song as voted by fans in an Internet poll. “Under My Thumb” was the chosen song beating out “Let’s Spend The Night Together,” “Rocks Off” and “B***h.” For the first time since 1999, they also played “Fool To Cry,” which has only been played a handful of times since the band’s 1976 European tour.
