A 35-year-old Japanese man has committed his life to a singing hologram. As in, he married it. Yes, really. Akihiko Kondo and fell in love with a 16-year-old virtual-reality singer by the name of Hatsune Miku, who lives in his $2,800 desktop device. And it’s a cartoon. And the grossness of “teen love” aside, it’s not like he was just trying to cheap out. The ceremony ended up costing in the neighborhood of $17,500. And yet, Kondo’s mother refused to attend. Shocking. And let’s aaaaall agree that his being a school administrator doesn’t make this aaaaaany creepier. Good times.
