A rusty 1936 Bentley, which spent the last 30 years locked up in a garage, has sold at auction for $600,000. The car was owned by World War II pilot Charles Blackham, who took part in a raid on Adolf Hitler's Bavarian retreat and was one of just six of its kind made by Bentley. Mr. Blackham bought the car in 1952 for $260 and drove the classic convertible for 36 years. He used the Bentley until 1988 when it became too much trouble to keep it running, and parked it in the garage at his home near Manchester, where it sat rotting away until his death in January at age 96. It was found by his estate and put up for auction and they estimated that it would sell for no more than $250,000, but the bidders had different ideas.
