Drew Barrymore Warned To Tone Down Touchiness During Interviews: 'Back Off'

Drew Barrymore is a self-proclaimed "touchy" person, and some of her talk show guests are more comfortable with it than others.

The beloved actress sat down with Wicked standout Cynthia Erivo on Tuesday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, asking if her co-star Ariana Grande was "touchy" like her (per Page Six).

"Is it true that she is as touchy? I’m so touchy! People have to warn me. They’re like, 'Back off a little bit.' I'm like, 'Why?'"

In a November interview with Martha Stewart, Barrymore repeatedly ran her hand over Stewart's shoulder asking her what made her feel "soft and gooey," and the cookbook queen pushed her away.

Erivo, who played Elphaba in the record-breaking film, assured the Blended star that she's grown used to Grande's "touchiness" to the point of assuming something is wrong if they're not "connected."

"If it's not, like, connected, I’m like, 'What’s wrong? What’s happening? Where are you?' We walk hand in hand very often. Like, if we’re not walking hand in hand, we’ll find each other somewhere."

She continued:

“I think we assume that physical connection can only be romantic. However we need to communicate is how we need to communicate. And I think we don’t give enough credit to how we need to communicate with our friends physically."

Barrymore was sure to give Erivo a long embrace and tell her how blessed she feels to be "physically near someone who is breaking records."
