Paul McCartney Didn’t Think He’d Live Beyond 28 Years Old

Paul McCartney is still rocking at age 77, which is something he certainly didn’t expect. In fact, in a new interview, Sir Paul says he didn’t even expect to live to see his thirties.

Asked what a younger version of himself would think of his success, Sir Paul told Britain’s Radio Times, “He would be loving the fact that he was still here,” noting, “Like a lot of people, I think I thought I was going to die at 28."

He quickly added, “Which is nothing to do with the car number plate on the cover," a reference to conspiracy theories speculating The Beatles’“Abbey Road’s” famous cover revealed clues indicating Paul was actually dead.

McCartney is out promoting the 50th anniversary release of “Abbey Road,” and in case you missed it, he stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” earlier this week, where he revealed that he sometimes dreams about his bandmate, John Lennon.

“I love it when people revisit you in your dreams. So, I often have band dreams and they’re crazy,” he said. “I’m often with John and just talking about doing something and I come to get my bass ready to play and it’s covered in sticky tape. You know, dreams! So, I’m picking all this stuff off, trying to talk to him.” He added, “I have a lot of dreams about John. And they’re always good.”
