Remember back when the Vikings were the last remaining undefeated team at 5-0 last season?
Well all that celebrating has turned into a Viking Funeral as the team seemingly has gone up in flames pretty much since then.
The team finished out the season going 3-8 to miss the playoffs.
Well if you think these Vikes were done burning bridges in the offseason, guess again. Not only have they released Adrian Peterson but, if this report out of Minnesota yesterday is true, they may also burn bridge water.
Yeah as in QB Teddy Bridgewater, who suffered that devastating—as eyewitnesses will verify, nauseating—knee injury eight months ago just days ahead of the opening game.
Well now one of ESPN’s last six employees, Adam Schefter, says that the Vikings are unlikely to pick up the fifth-year option on Bridgewater’s rookie contract that would guarantee the 24-year-old $11 million for the 2018 season.
And while that is a reasonable price, it’s not unreasonable to think Bridgewater may not be the starting QB in Minnesota by then, if he is even healed as the latest reports say he may very well miss the entire 2017 season.
And if he does, how can you justify paying $18 million to a QB that hasn’t taken a snap in two seasons.
