It looks like we won't be getting that Lynyrd Skynyrd biopic after all. The band and the estates of the Skynyrd members killed in a 1977 plane crash are suing former drummer Artimus Pyle over his movie "Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash."
Production has already started, but the lawsuit aims to shut it down because while Pyle "is free to exploit his own personal life story" for the film, he's close to violating "a 1988 consent order" that members, Pyle included, agreed to concerning control of the Lynyrd Skynyrd copyright.
The '77 crash at the center of the movie killed original band members Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines, an assistant road manager, and the two pilots.
Gotta say, I was kind of looking forward to it. Although, we know how the story ends, so......
