College Football Playoff Announces The College Football Playoff Selection Committee - News Conference

The first College Football Poll of the season came out last night and the number four ranked badgers in the AP poll...well they are nowhere near that ranking right now.

Wisconsin may be undefeated but they have no quality wins, which is why they are number NINE in the opening CFP Poll, unlike the number one ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

That's right, the Bulldogs are No. 1 while the Crimson Tide of Alabama is No. 2. Of course, that ranking will take care of itself considering both teams are currently on a collision course for the SEC title game on December 2nd, which could very well serve as a playoff game for the CFP.

Following the SEC titans are six teams sitting at 7-1, led by Notre Dame at No. 3. The Irish's lone loss came in a home defeat to No. 1 Georgia. Should standings hold as they are, Notre Dame could potentially leap-frog Georgia, if the Bulldogs lose to the Crimson Tide in the SEC title game.

The fourth team locked into the CFP is Clemson. At 7-1, the defending champions have flown a bit under the radar, but clearly the committee did not penalize the Tigers for a shocking road loss to Syracuse that featured Clemson losing starting quarterback Kelly Bryant to injury. Speaking of shocking losses...

Oklahoma plants its flag behind Clemson at No. 5. It appears the CFP committee agreed with Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield, who said Tuesday that he believes in his team—which beat Ohio State in Columbus earlier this year—deserved to be ranked ahead of the Buckeyes since both have the same 7-1 record. Of course, he neglected to mention that loss to Iowa State.

Maybe this will all sort itself out as the rest of the season rolls on...
