The federal government is going to let Americans know about safety precautions they can take in the event of a nuclear attack. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will hold an online briefing January 16th, to let people know about preparations at the federal, state, and local levels.

The CDC is responding to concerns because of recent news reports about nuclear weapons and the possibility of an intentional or accidental launch. The CDC website says that while a nuclear detonation is highly unlikely, it would have devastating results and leave little time for protection against radiation.
The CDC is providing information as President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un continue to taunt one another about each nation's nuclear weapons.
