These days, it seems that there are more things dividing us as a country than bringing us together. That’s why beer’s awesome. It’s one thing we can all be unified around. Sure, there are different styles and tastes, but if we all have a good brew in our hands everything just seems a bit more right with the world…at least, until one jack-hole opens his pie-hole and starts talking politics again.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the top states in the Union for beer:
- Illinois (ranked #7) – Goose Island made the first waves, but you owe it to yourself to give Bourbon County Stout a dance…along with Revolution, Half Acre, and Pipeworks.
- Iowa (ranked #30) - While the collective Iowa beer scene has come a long way in recent years, the discussion of Iowa beer still kind of begins and ends with Toppling Goliath. If you haven't had it...it's REALLY good beer!
- Wisconsin (believe it or not, only ranked #10) – This is a beer-centric state. Just watch the beginning of “Laverne & Shirley” if you need any more proof. But, I can tell you from living there that "Spotted Cow" is by far their most popular beer...next to Miller, of course...
Bringing up the rear is Mississippi, but that’s because home-brewing wasn’t even legal until 2013. We’re sure they’ll catch up though...
