In a perfect world, beer would be viewed as “health food.” That’s thanks to some research out of California’s Polytechnic State University.
It turns out, Vitamin B3 is found in brewer’s yeast, and that vitamin can help in “lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, chop down at cholesterol, and reduce atherosclerosis.” In other words, you know all those wonderful health benefits you’ve heard about red wine? The health benefits could be even greater here.
Of course, there’s a catch (just as there is with everything worthwhile). These results only hold true for true craft beers. The mass-produced beers you see on the aisles of your local grocery store go through a pasteurization process where those health benefits take a hit. Now that you’re armed with the info…have a toast, and drink to your health!
