If you haven't already heard, the Col Ballroom IS closing. The Col Ballroom has been around for well over a hundred years. My late grandmother, Marion Heckel, used to go to dances there as a college student...this was back in the days of Benny Goodman. She passed away at the age of 94...almost a decade ago...which shows you the longevity of that establishment. Some of the biggest names in music have played there, too. Everything from the stars of big band in the 1920s...to people like Jimi Hendrix in the 1960s. In fact, behind the stage in the electrical room, you'll see a LOT of autographs...but the most famous was written in 1968...by an up-and-coming guitarist named Jimi Hendrix...
