It's always hard when you lose a member of the family...whether biological family or work family. That happened to us over the weekend. Bo J. Spates, who I first remember listening to in junior high when he was just starting his radio career. Turns out, we both worked for the same radio station in Des Moines...just 2 years apart. Our work paths crossed several times...the most recent when I was doing mornings with Steve Ketelaar on KUUL 101.3. Bo J was the midday guy and program director.
One thing is for certain...the only thing he loved more than golf was his daughter, Charly. There wasn't a day that went by that he didn't brag up some achievement of hers...National Honor Society...golf...a play...you name it! He was BEYOND proud of his daughter and loved her dearly.
