A cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” has gone viral thanks to the new twist on the song’s lyrics. Musician Adrian Grimes has reimagined the 1975 anthem as “Coronavirus Rhapsody.”
The parody has racked up nearly 3-point-five-million views on YouTube since it was uploaded on March 21st. The lyrics urge fans to stay inside and wash their hands, joking about social isolation and running out of toilet paper. “Is this a fever? / Is this just allergies? / Caught in a lockdown / No escape from the family / Don’t touch your eyes / Just hand sanitize quickly,” the song starts off. While the viewcount indicates that the parody is a hit, Grimes says he’s actually gotten some backlash over the lyrics - but he insists he’s not being “insensitive.” “My wife works in healthcare and I have two young kids, I know very well how this virus could impact my family,” he writes. “I hope [we will] still be able to maintain a sense of humor.”
