KWQC-TV6 is working with area school districts in broadcasting six hours of programming dedicated to their 2020 High School graduates. Saturday, June 6, viewers can watch virtual graduation programs for North Scott, Pleasant Valley, Davenport Central, West, North, and Mid City high schools.
"I think it is a great way for senior students to celebrate the memories of their senior year," Brian Strusz, superintendent of the Pleasant Valley Community School District, said of the virtual graduation. "As you watch the online virtual graduation, it was neat to listen to the speeches that students will be giving them, talking about resilience and how we will all rise from this COVID time. (I'm) just very, very proud of the work that has gone into making this possible."
The programs will include messages from each school’s principals, school body leaders and the names and pictures of each graduate read aloud. The graduation ceremonies start at 11 a.m. on KWQC-TV6:
- 11 a.m. – North Scott High School
- 12 p.m. – Pleasant Valley High School
- 1 p.m. -Davenport North
- 2 p.m.- Davenport West
- 3 p.m.-Davenport Central
- 4 p.m.-Mid City High
“TV6 is honored to help celebrate our 2020 High School Seniors with this Re-imagined Graduation Day programming” said Sue Ramsett, KWQC Vice President & General Manager. “Our hope is that family and friends who aren’t able to gather in person can mark the occasion by viewing these virtual ceremonies together. Each senior will get some well-deserved recognition along with traditional graduation speeches and photos from their unprecedented senior year.
Q106.5 is hosting a Graduation Playlist Weekend starting at 5pm, highlighting the great classic rock that we graduated with. We'll also be highlighting and saluting the graduates of the Class of 2020.
