Sam Adams is set to release their Utopia beer in at least 35 of the 50 states on October 11th. Why not the other 15, you ask? It would be illegal. Not because it’s infused with CDB or anything like that; it’s just your run-of-the-mill alcohol – but there’s A LOT of it. The latest beer from Sam Adams bears a price tag of $240 per bottle...but, believe me, you'll only need one to get drunk.
The new beer option has so much alcohol it breaks some state Prohibition Era-laws on alcohol content for a beer. In fact, 15 states still require beer’s alcohol content be capped at 5% ABV (alcohol by volume). Utopia has a strong 28% ABV, thus making it illegal in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont and West Virginia.
Samuel Adams, the official beer of the Inspiration4 civilian tourism mission to space, said a Utopia bottle autographed by Koch and the mission's crew will be auctioned to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
